Madison Public Market Plans Progress

Community Workshop Scheduled for November 3

Guided by the Public Market Business Plan and Implementation Strategy, approved by the Common Council in 2015 and 2016, the City is advancing a multi-pronged effort to finalize the funding, design, construction, and operating plan for the Madison Public Market. The Market is expected to open in early 2019 and will be located along First Street between East Washington Avenue and Johnson Street.

The next step will be a Community Workshop focused on the design of the Public Market site. The Workshop will take place on Thursday, November 3 at the Archipelago Village Design Center located at 945 East Washington Avenue (across the street from Breese Stevens Field with parking and entrance in the rear of the building).

This interactive event will provide community members the opportunity to review, discuss, and share input on options for the design of the Public Market and surrounding site. More than just plans for the Public Market building itself, the discussion will include ideas for related development around the Public Market to begin creating a Market District.
