The drop-off site at 1501 W. Badger Rd will close on March 25, 2022.

posted in: City of Madison News | 0

The drop-off site will remain closed to the public through the remainder of 2022 and the winter of 2022-2023.

WHY IS THE BADGER RD DROP-OFF SITE CLOSING?

A construction project to demolish and then replace the existing salt storage facilities at 1501 W. Badger Rd will get underway.

This project will mean the drop-off site at Badger Rd will not be safe for residents during construction and will be relocated.

The west side customer service office will not be affected by the closing of the drop-off site.

BADGER DROP-OFF SERVICES WILL MOVE TO 402 SOUTH POINT RD

On Tuesday, March 28, 2022, 402 South Point Rd. will become the west side drop-off site.

It will initially be open winter hours until it transitions to extended summer hours on April 4, 2022.

This site will be far more convenient for many west side residents, especially those who live west of S. Whitney Way.

There will be no customer service support at this location. The west side customer service office will remain at 1501 W. Badger Rd.

South Point Rd will be the west-side Drop-off Site for the Winter of 2022-23

  • The Badger Rd construction project is due to be completed in the late fall of 2022 before winter begins.  However, the Badger Rd drop-off will not reopen for the winter of 2022-23.
  • Instead, South Point Rd will be the location for the year-round drop-off site for the winter of 2022-23.

NEW TEMPORARY DROP-OFF SITE LOCATION

Once Badger Rd closes a special temporary evenings & weekends only drop-off site will be established at 121 E. Olin Ave.

This will be an additional drop-off site, meaning the city will have three sites for a time- one at South Point, one at Sycamore, and this temporary one at Olin Ave.

The East Olin Avenue drop-off site will have most, if not all, of the same drop-off opportunities available at the other locations. More details will be shared later regarding available drop-off services.

This site will have special limited hours explained below.  Early entry to the drop-off portion of the site will not be permitted. You must follow the posted entry time rules.

Safety Considerations for Temporary Drop-off Site

  • You must obey the posted signs on when the drop-off site is available.
  • You must stay in the specified drop-off site area.
  • The temporary drop-off site is also the location of the brush processing and waste transfer facility.
  • Drop-off site hours do not overlap with the brush processing and waste receiving work. This will minimize traffic and maximize safety.

Special Temporary Site Hours

When the site opens in April 2022, the hours will be:

  • Monday:  3:00pm to 7:00pm
  • Tuesday: 3:00pm to 7:00pm
  • Wednesday: 3:00pm to 7:00pm
  • Thursday: 3:00pm to 7:00pm
  • Friday: CLOSED
  • Saturday: 9:00am to 4:00pm

Temporary Site Will Not Be Open for the Winter

SYCAMORE AVE. DROP-OFF SERVICES WILL NOT BE AFFECTED

The east side drop-off site at 4602 Sycamore Ave. will not be disturbed by the construction project.

All city residents are welcome to use the Sycamore Ave. location during the posted hours.
