Hello Crawford-Marlborough- Nakoma Neighbors,
By now some of you probably know I am running for Alder of District 10. One of my main talking points is related to starting conversations in our neighborhoods about issues of safety, bias, racial equality, and social justice. To start these conversations I am encouraging neighbors to read or listen to the book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. The author, Isabel Wilkerson, will be speaking virtually on January 25th at 6pm through the MLK Events at UW. The event is free but does require registration at MLK Symposium — An Evening with Isabel Wilkerson » Wisconsin Union. I hope many of our neighbors will take the time to attend, and read her book. (As a side note, if you have not used Audible before I can try to send you a complementary audio version of the book. I would need your email.)
